KwaZulu-Natal faces very tough times with families being torn apart by unemployment, crime, violence and apathy, the results of this has been poverty, alcoholism, abuse, children heading households, no access to education. Children & youth turn to drug use, prostitution, crime, violent reactions and other sexually related self-exposures. The geographical locations in which children, youth & families find themselves are in poor, disadvantaged communities, schools in these communities, shacks near cities and on the city streets.
- An outreach worker sees a beneficiary who lives on the streets for rehabilitation services and other psychosocial support.
- A social worker uncovers neglect of a child who needed medical attention and reinstatement for chronic medication in Inanda.
- Youth for Christ-KwaZulu-Natal places a child at UKZN Pietermaritzburg Campus after working on her family issues, applying for her studies and assisting with needs such as clothing, food, and later will be academic support.
